About the Graded Reader – <小羊上山>

《小羊上山》 is a thoughtfully designed Chinese graded reader, carefully structured to help young learners transition from recognising characters to independent reading. Here’s what makes it so effective:

01. Step-By-Step Learning

The curriculum is divided into progressive levels, introducing 60 new characters per stage. Children begin by recognising essential characters and gradually build their vocabulary to over 240 characters by completing the foundational levels.

02. High-Frequency Words

The stories focus on commonly used words with high repetition rates, helping children internalise vocabulary and context effortlessly.

06. Holistic Whole Brain Development

Lessons incorporate Chinese flash cards to stimulate left-brain activity, enhancing memory retention ability. In addition to book reading, age-appropriate activities are included to support whole brain development, ensuring a holistic learning experience.

《小羊上山》

While the Graded Reader was originally developed based on China's syllabus, our programme has been adapted to suit local Singaporean children and aligned with MOE's learning outcomes.

Our philosophy is to cultivate the love for the language first, as we believe it has a more lasting impact and that academic learning goals will follow naturally too.
